Wait! Is it still July?!... As my
wedding date draws nearer the months seem to be getting longer and longer. It
has only been two months since I got engaged and it already feels like two
decades. Well, engaged or should I say blessed? In our community, instead of a
traditional engagement the bride and the groom undergo an Aashirwaad
(blessing) ceremony, while ring exchange takes place at the marriage itself.
Nonetheless, this period is a once
in a lifetime & unquestionably special time for me. Certain dates have
already assumed indescribable meaning for both my fiancée & I, including
the thirteenth of March when we first met & the seventh of May when we finally committed
ourselves officially. It’s also during this span that I’ve begun to understand
the significance of a promise for the first time, although applicable
to different domains for different individuals. You break your word... You break someone's trust in you...
The happiness of a person is a
complicated thing these days. You can resolve to give your life, if need be,
for someone you love but then have you ever considered that life will probably
never be the same for that certain somebody without you, if it can be called
life at all. It is a fine balancing act where you have to walk the tightrope
between every decision you make. Other things like careless driving, etc. are
just not an option especially when there are those waiting for you to return
home safely at the end of the day.
Well, everything aside, nowadays a
majority of our time is being taken up by shopping, honeymoon planning and what
not. I’m grateful to both our families for all the support they have lent from day
one to help bring all this to fruition. And now I guess it is all about the wait, as the daily count-down clock ticks along...
